Polyester rope is very similar to nylon in strength when both the ropes are wetted in a marine environment. Moreover, it has a bit less stretch capability as compared to nylon. For this reason, polyester cannot absorb shock loads very well. Polyester is resistant to moisture and chemicals in the same way as nylon. It is superior in resistance to sunlight than nylon, but both of them are equally resistant to abrasion.
Anchoring involves anchor rope and chain, which should be spliced together for the join to run through a windlass smoothly. The connecting shackle might get jammed or even break a windlass; therefore, choosing the correct size and calibration of the chain is essential.
